@mantisman96 Yes it does. it’s basically a phase vocoder that detects the pitch of the voice and corrects it to the nearest tone on a selected scale. Phase vocoding is a more complicated and refined version of vocoding, but basically it’s similar.

@SteelSkin667 I think the difference is how Auto-Tune pitch corrects, and how a vocoder uses filters. No one but the company that makes it knows how Auto-Tune’s pitch correction algorithm works exactly, but I might be wrong. Does Auto-Tune use a vocoder-like method? I didn’t think it did. My experience with Auto-Tune and vocoders is that I have software versions of both.

@EdwardBaker94 I know what both are, and what they both sound like, but this video, and most of T-Pain’s music, sounds like it was made with Auto-Tune, not a vocoder.

The best way to get tpain style vocals is to take the vocoder audio then put it into auto tune at what ever key you want. PRESTO
